Varsity Softball earned a 5-1 District win over Apopka last night. Belle Rosales threw a complete game, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 5. Cate Conway, Stella Christie and Kayla Morris each contributed with multiple hits. Varsity softball moves to 12-0 and is now ranked 16th in the nation.
Lake Brantley put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Apopka Blue Darters. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Belle Rosales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lake Brantley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Catharine Conway, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Lake Brantley pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Apopka, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Brantley will venture away from home to take on Montverde Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Apopka, they will head out to face off against Deltona at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Deltona's pitching crew has only allowed 0.6 runs per game this season, so Apopka's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
