Coach Charlie Negrón: A Legacy in Athletics
Coach Charlie Negrón was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where he laid the groundwork for his athletic journey. During his high school years, he excelled in various sports, including volleyball, basketball, and track & field. He furthered his athletic career by participating in college basketball, volleyball, and track & field at the esteemed University of Puerto Rico.
For the past four years, Coach Negrón has served as the head coach of the boys' program, during which time he has led the team to remarkable achievements. Under his guidance, the boys' program captured its inaugural district championship in 2021 and has since secured the runner-up position in the subsequent three years.
After a hiatus, Coach Negrón returned to the sport of volleyball, inspired by his children: Joanivette, Juancarlos, and Johan. With over 25 years of coaching experience across high school and club programs—including Tavares High School, Lake Brantley High School, Seminole High School, and University High School in Orange City—he has also played a pivotal role in coaching and developing high-performance athletes for national teams.
The experience of contributing to the character development of young student-athletes has been immensely fulfilling for Coach Negrón. In his capacity as the head coach of high school and club teams, as well as an assistant coach for the High Performance Team Florida, he has recognized that volleyball serves as a powerful medium for nurturing athletes' mental, social, technical, and tactical prowess. This holistic approach enables them to realize their collegiate and professional aspirations.
