Lake Brantley proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 31) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 51-50 win over the Seminole Seminoles. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Patriots' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Seminoles are ranked 376th).
Leading Lake Brantley to victory were Phillip Mondelus and Julian Vargas. Mondelus posted 18 points, while Vargas put up 15 points.
Lake Brantley's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Seminole, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Lake Brantley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Apopka at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Darters have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Seminole will take on Eustis in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Seminoles will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
